14 – Weeks, Hello Second Trimester!

Well, as the weeks roll on this really do begin to feel more real! The bump is NOT getting much bigger (well, by the end of the day it is) and I really have not taken my side photo’s since Week 12 – part of me forgot and part of me just wanted to get through our 12 week scans well before taking any more photos.

I have realised that the next few months will go VERY quickly – and I really need to continue finding the momentary markers that make it all slow down. I will continue taking side photos – it is nearly impossible to take a nice full body photo without feeling 100% awkward. Hubby has tried and we both melt into laugher so I decided setting the camera up myself was a lot quicker and easier!


Fun – Fact about me: I have started 345873 paper journals to document life and events but I have NEVER followed one through to the end. I have completed lots of scrapbooks which I loved doing but just do not seem to have the time for cutting, gluing and organising, well, everything! So this Blog will now become my (nearly) weekly journal. If at this point you have stopped reading, I am 100% okay with that, I hope to share thoughts, feelings and tips along the way – which means I am ALWAYS welcoming thoughts and ideas from others.


  • How Far Along?  14 weeks – and it is flying by! I am beyond grateful to be this far along, however the worry always sits in the back of my mind and every week I am thankful to being one step closer. 
  • Maternity Clothes? Nope – some shorts are fitting a little more snug, and baggy outfits feel a little better. I feel like I have “rounded out” with a little extra padding sitting everywhere, but my weight has not changed much in 14-weeks. 
  • Sleep? Getting harder – I reallllllly do not like waking up in the middle of the night to pee, I am getting back to sleep okay. Some nights I negotiate with myself with how much water to drink just to not wake up! 
  • Best Moment of the Week? – TELLING EVERYONE WE WILL BE HAVING A GENDER REVEAL PARTY! I have waited and waited to be able to have this party, to share if we are having a GIRL or BOY. oooooh party planning is just so much fun. Also feeling these little “twinges” which I know is not actually feeling the baby move – but I imagine them bouncing around in there. 
  • Miss Anything? Wine and Cheese Platters. Which, I know may sound horrific to some reading this. I am not a big drinker and have been JUST FINE without it. I miss it when it has been a long week, I am curled up on the sofa with my husband, the dogs and a good movie – the air conditioner running and we are winding down into the weekend. I have been more than happy to give up coffee, a lot of sugar, 
  • Movement? Too early for real movement – but the odd twinge happens once a day which I allow myself to believe is real baby movement. This is also for me to remind myself that baby is happy, healthy and growing. When there are 4-weeks between check-ups I need to remind myself we are okay!
  • Food Cravings? Nothing major – loving fruit (which is a rarity for me). Kiwi, lemons, cantaloupe, grapes, blueberries, strawberries. 
  • Anything making you queasy or sick? If I do not eat regularly enough – or if I do not have enough protein in a meal/day. 
  • Labor Signs? Gosh I would hope not! Way to early for that! 
  • Symptoms? Nothing really – movements are challenging from time to time. I feel MORE stiff now than before pregnancy. 
  • Belly Button in or out? In and it better stay there. 
  • Looking Forward to? THE PARTY – I am so beyond excited to hear everyone’s baby guesses and planning all the PINK and BLUE items I can. This week is finalising the menu/meals, picking up a few things from Officeworks and finding a lovely outfit! 2nd best exciting moment – planning the NURSERY. 


How I continue to Incorporate Pilates / Yoga into my Daily Practice

I continue to complete MOST exercises – I find my belly gets in the way of some folding – laying on my tummy feels okay, but it is a risk I am not willing to take.

Exercises I am loving:

  • Open Leg Rocker – hello spine movement (and I can still bend forward to reach my feet)
  • Back Support – feels so good for the shoulders and core
  • ANY side bending  – feels really nice to give baby some space to move in there
  • Pidgeon – this feels super tight these days. So although the belly seems to get in the way a little it still feels SO good.
